Floyd Schofield returns to the ring against Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz in 23 days on November 8. Fans primarily see the Schofield-Diaz fight as a mismatch due to the differences in form, age, and power. The event will be shown live on DAZN from the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Fireworks Expected In Fort Worth
The unbeaten 23-year-old Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs) is coming off a first-round knockout win over Tevin Farmer last summer on June 28. Floyd looked powerful and lethal with the way he dropped the former IBF super featherweight champion Farmer twice en route to knocking him out in the first round.
The Schofield-Diaz fight has gone under the radar for fans, as most of them have focused on the main event between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Erickson Lubin. One problem with that is the 2012 Olympian Diaz (34-8-1, 15 KOs) has a 2-7 record in his last nine fights since 2021. He’s not performing to the level that he needs to be for him to be considered as a threat to beating Schofield.
“Schofield is motivated because they overlooked him when he got hospitalized for the Shakur fight [earlier this year, in February 2025]. He came back with a first-round knockout of Tevin Farmer,” said Erickson Lubin to MillCity Boxing about Floyd Schofield’s fight against Joseph Diaz on November 8th in Fort Worth, Texas.
Many fans still believe Schofield ducked his fight with WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson by pulling out of his February 22nd fight this year with a food poisoning excuse. Schofield bailed on the fight on February 18th, four days before the contest. His first-round knockout of Farmer still wasn’t enough to make people believe he hadn’t swerved the Shakur fight.
Recharged And Refocused
“I know he’s [Diaz] motivated because he was an Olympian, ex-world champion. He’s been battling outside of the ring. He’s a man of God and is in a better place. I feel like JoJo is dipping into his bag a little bit more and coming out to fight a little better,” said Lubin.
