The Golden State Warriors and the LA Lakers will meet for the second time in the 2025 NBA preseason on Sunday. The Warriors are 2-0 after racking up wins against the Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers in their opening two games. They beat a shorthanded LA team without Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves 111-103, while playing at full strength to tip off the game.

The Warriors almost allowed a comeback in a bench vs. bench setup in the second half before getting a series of stops in the final couple of minutes. For the Lakers, it was their second consecutive loss. However, it was a much better showing compared to the opener against the Phoenix Suns, which they dropped 103-81.

The Lakers will hope to get into the win column and avenge last week's loss, especially with homecourt advantage for the first time. The bookmakers also favor them with a -2.5-point spread and -135 money line.

Golden State Warriors vs. LA Lakers Injury Reports

Warriors

The Warriors won't be at full strength against the Lakers this time. Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody and Al Horford are all sidelined after playing the first two games. Curry is "banged up," per coach Steve Kerr, while Butler is out due to personal reasons. Horford is rested, while Moody is out with a calf injury.

The other absentee is De'Anthony Melton, who won't return for the next three weeks at least. Melton is recovering from an ACL surgery.

Lakers

The Lakers have a lengthy injury list, starting with LeBron James. Maxi Kleber and Adou Thiero will join him on the sidelines. James is out due to sciatica and will get re-evaluated after four weeks. Kleber has a quad injury and Thiero is nursing a knee issue.

Luka Doncic is day-to-day and his status will be a game-time decision.
