Chicago police are searching for a man suspected of breaking into at least three homes in Rogers Park early Friday and attempting to sexually assault a woman inside one of them. Investigators believe the same suspect may have tried to attack another woman in Evanston about an hour earlier.

According to Chicago police, the break-ins occurred between 2 and 3 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Lunt Avenue. In one of the incidents, the intruder pried open a basement window while wearing only a towel or similar covering, entered the home, and attacked a woman in her bathroom. She fought him off, and he fled through a first-floor window, police said.

Roughly an hour earlier, a woman in Evanston reported a similar attempted sexual assault by a man matching the same description. That attack also failed after the victim resisted.

Chicago police released two surveillance images of the suspect on Friday. He is described as Hispanic, 19 to 25 years old, thin, standing between 5 feet 5 and 5 feet 7 inches tall, with medium-length curly hair. At one point during the night, he was seen wearing a black hoodie with “USMC” printed in gold letters on the back, light-colored pants, and a light-colored hoodie tied around his waist.

Officers recovered a backpack, shoes, and other items that may help link a suspect to the attacks.
