Joe Pantoliano is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 74-year-old actor confirmed that he will appear in the upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man, though he did not reveal the details of his role.
Pantoliano made the announcement during a Matrix reunion panel at New York Comic Con on Sunday. Entertainment Weekly reached out to Marvel for confirmation.
“I’m gonna be in the new Wonder Man series,” Pantoliano said. He added that he enjoyed filming alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who stars as Simon Williams. “Yahya! And Sir Ben Kingsley. Just to hear him say my name, Joe Pantoliano,” he joked.
Pantoliano also shared a funny story about his nickname. While he is widely known as “Joey Pants,” Kingsley never used it on set. “No, never, he never did. He called me Lord Trousers,” Pantoliano teased. “I can’t be Joey. I’m 74, so it’s Joseph Trousers.”
This isn’t Pantoliano’s first time in the Marvel world. He played Ben Urich in the 2003 Daredevil film starring Ben Affleck. It’s unclear whether he will reprise that role or play a new character in Wonder Man.
The series follows Simon Williams, an actor auditioning for a reboot of the Wonder Man character. He forms a friendship with Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery, and the two bond over their shared love of acting.
Originally set to release in December, Wonder Man has been delayed to January 2026. Series producer Winderbaum explained, “We don’t want it to get swallowed up by people watching Home Alone and Die Hard and Elf.”
