A 6-month-old Georgia boy has been found dead after his father reported he was taken during an armed robbery on Sunday.
The Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office said the body of Nnakai Pratt was found Tuesday in a dumpster near the Riverdale apartment complex where his father reported him missing on Sunday, WANF reported.
Pratt’s father, 38-year-old Antonio Pearce, was arrested later on Sunday on unrelated charges, as CrimeOnline reported. Clayton County police said they noted “highly questionable” details about Pearce’s report of the armed robbery.
Pearce was charged with marijuana possession, improper child restraint, and driving on a suspended license and is being held without bond. He has not, so far, been charged with his son’s disappearance and death, but they did say he was a suspect.
Pearce is due in court on Wednesday on those charges, WXIA reported. According to jail records, he faces at least one new charge — making a false statement.
