Edo security operatives rescue abducted 12-year-old girl after five days in captivity

Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have rescued a 12-year-old girl, identified as Blessing, five days after she was abducted.

LIB reported that Blessing was kidnapped at Ayogwiri and rescued at Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area of the state on Friday, October 10, 2025. 

She was abducted by armed men suspected of being herders who attacked her mother and other women returning from the farm.

It was gathered that some of the suspected kidnappers were arrested. 

A viral video showed moments when the teenager was rescued from the forest.

One of the vigilance members who joined the rescue operation said the forest was combed before the victim was sighted.

He said the kidnappers fled after a shoot-out.
