A24 has just released the new trailer for Eternity, a fantasy romantic comedy directed by David Freyne. The film stars Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner, and it’s set to hit theaters in the U.S. later this November.
Eternity tells the story of Joan, played by Elizabeth Olsen, who finds herself in a strange afterlife where everyone gets one week to decide where, and with whom, they want to spend eternity.
For Joan, that choice isn’t easy. She must choose between Luke, her first love, who died in a war, and Larry, the man she later built her life with. Callum Turner plays Luke, while Miles Teller takes on the role of Larry. The cast also includes John Early as Ryan, Joan’s quirky afterlife coordinator, Olga Merediz as Karen, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Anna, Larry’s own guide in the afterlife.

— A24 (@A24) October 14, 2025The idea for the movie came from a script by Pat Cunnane and David Freyne, which made it onto The Black List of most-liked unproduced screenplays back in 2022. After that, Freyne signed on to direct the film for A24. Filming started in Vancouver in May 2024 and wrapped up in early July. David Fleming composed the score for the movie.
Eternity premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, where it got warm early reactions. It will also close the Chicago International Film Festival on October 26 before its limited theatrical release on November 14, followed by a nationwide rollout on November 26.
Early reviews have been positive. According to Deadline’s Pete Hammond, “the movie really pops with the bright and fun production design” and “sparkling colorful cinematography,” though he adds it could use “a little tightening” since “the middle drags and feels like an eternity.”
On Rotten Tomatoes, Eternity currently holds an 88% approval rating from 25 critics, while Metacritic gives it a score of 64 out of 100 based on nine reviews, calling it “generally favorable.”
With its emotional love triangle, light humor, and touching take on the afterlife, Eternity looks like one of A24’s most charming releases this year, and the new trailer offers a heartfelt first look at what’s to come.
