Mia Goth has addressed a lawsuit filed against her by a background actor from the horror film MaXXXine, though she didn’t go into details about the case.
In an interview with Elle magazine on Tuesday, she said, “I’m unable to speak to any of that at the moment, but I think if anyone was to do a simple search, they would see what the facts are. They can draw their own conclusions. It’s still an ongoing process.”
The lawsuit, reported earlier by TheWrap, was filed in January 2024 by James Hunter, who worked as a background actor on MaXXXine.
Hunter claims that during a scene, Goth kicked him in the head while he was lying on the ground. According to the legal documents, Hunter suffered a concussion and experienced ongoing headaches afterward, even nearly losing consciousness while driving home.
Hunter also alleges that the fake blood used in the scene had dried on his skin and clothing, causing additional discomfort. He says he reported the incident to the assistant director, but Goth allegedly mocked him afterward. Following the incident, Hunter claims he was told he was no longer needed on set for the remaining shoot days.
The lawsuit names Mia Goth for battery and also includes wrongful termination claims against MaXXXine’s director Ti West and the production company A24.
This case is still ongoing, and Goth has remained cautious in public comments. She emphasizes that people should look at the facts themselves before drawing conclusions.
This situation highlights how quickly incidents on set can become major legal and public issues. Regardless of the outcome, it’s a reminder that even small roles in productions can have serious consequences. What do you think about this lawsuit? Share your thoughts in the comments.
