Netflix’s new military drama Boots has been receiving strong praise from critics since its release.

The series, created by Andy Parker and based on Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine, premiered on October 9, and has already earned a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Boots tells the story of a young American teenager who secretly identifies as gay but joins the military in the 1990s alongside his straight best friend.

The series explores his experiences navigating military life while also dealing with personal challenges.

The show features an ensemble cast led by Miles Heizer as Cameron Cope, Max Parker as Sergeant Robert “Bobby” Sullivan, and Vera Farmiga as Barbara Cope. Other notable actors include Liam Oh, Cedrick Cooper, Ana Ayora, and Dominic Goodman. The series focuses on the bonds between soldiers, showing both the hardships and the humor of military life.
