20th Century Studios has released a brand-new behind-the-scenes featurette for Predator: Badlands, giving fans a real look at what went into making the next movie in the Predator series.
The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who previously made Prey and 10 Cloverfield Lane. It’s set to hit theaters on November 7.
The new video shows how much effort went into filming on real locations and using practical effects instead of relying only on CGI.
Viewers get to see the team shooting in rugged outdoor environments and working with a full-sized Predator suit worn by an actor. Trachtenberg says, “We wanted to be sure to give people a big screen experience that would be absolutely insane.” From the behind-the-scenes footage, it looks like that’s exactly what he’s aiming for.
— Fandango (@Fandango) October 13, 2025Predator: Badlands takes place on a distant planet in the future. The story follows a young Predator who has been cast out from his clan. In his search for the ultimate opponent, he forms an unlikely partnership with Thia, an android played by Elle Fanning. The young Predator is played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. Together, they face extreme challenges while being hunted by a deadly apex creature.

The movie’s script was written by Dan Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison, the same writing team behind Prey. The film is produced by John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O’Connor. The characters are based on the original creations of Jim and John Thomas, who started the Predator franchise.
Fans of the series have been eager to see how Trachtenberg would continue the story after the success of Prey. The new footage shows that he’s keeping the same grounded, realistic approach, combining strong visuals with old-school monster filmmaking. It’s also clear that the movie will keep the intensity and survival elements that made Prey such a hit.
