Ozzy Osbourne sadly took his final bow at the star-studded Back To The Beginning festival in July of this year. While it may have marked the end of the road for the Prince of Darkness, it seems the legacy for this particular festival is only just getting started.

According to The Mirror, a U.S. trademark application has been filed for the festival name, with legal protection requested for both live entertainment and merchandise under the banner of Ozzy's longtime rights-holding company, Monowise Ltd. A UK application is reportedly in the works too, pointing toward what could be the birth of a new tribute event honoring the man himself.

And frankly, this might be cool? Who knows. We don't have Ozzfest anymore, but some sort of equivalent effort as a Back To The Beginning festival happening yearly might be a nice replacement. I'm assuming we won't hear anything else about this until early 2026, given the lengthy logistics it'll take to plot a festival of this size. Doubly so if it's traveling.

The original Back To The Beginning concert went down on July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham — the same city where Osbourne's legendary journey with Black Sabbath first began. Billed as Ozzy's last-ever live performance (and Black Sabbath's too), the night became a who's-who of rock and metal royalty: Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, and more all took to the stage to perform Sabbath and Ozzy deep cuts in front of a global livestream audience.

Just 17 days later, on July 22, Osbourne passed away from a heart attack at age 76 — making the festival an even more poignant and powerful farewell. All proceeds from the historic gig (however much that was) were split between Acorns Children's Hospice, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Cure Parkinson's, the latter reflecting Ozzy's own battle with Parkinson's since his 2019 diagnosis.

A 100-minute concert film, focusing on the Osbourne-related performances from the night, is currently in the works and slated for a 2026 release — though it's not yet clear whether the recent trademark filings are directly tied to the film, or part of a broader plan to turn Back To The Beginning into a recurring tribute event.
