The beloved club will host a “Last Call” series through January 2026 before officially bidding farewell to a decade that defined DC’s dance music scene.
Soundcheck, one of Washington DC’s most cherished dance music institutions, will close its doors in January 2026 after a decade at the heart of the city’s nightlife. The club’s proprietors announced the news on social media, revealing a “Last Call” series of shows to celebrate its final months.
Located on K Street, Soundcheck first opened in 2015 under Club Glow before Insomniac’s acquisition of the company and its venues, including Echostage, in 2020. The club quickly became a cornerstone of the local electronic music community, known for its hanging disco balls, intimate basement setting and cutting-edge sound system.
“After a decade of unforgettable nights, Soundcheck will be saying goodbye this January,” the team wrote in their statement. “Soundcheck opened its doors in 2015, and quickly became a space where DC’s electronic scene found a weekly escape when there were few at the time. It became a pillar of dance music on the East Coast, a home where global icons played up close, and local artists found their first spotlight.”
The announcement prompted an immediate outpouring of nostalgia and gratitude from the community.
“Will miss all the amazing parties here,” wrote trance music icon Markus Schulz. “Grateful for all the memories made.”
“This is such a bummer,” Moore Kismet added. “Barely got to perform here for the first time last year after dreaming about it for years. Will deeply miss this special venue.”
Soundcheck’s farewell run begins in December with performances from Eliminate and Ninajirachi, among others, with more artists expected to be announced in the weeks ahead as part of the “Last Call” series.
