The EDM superstar was forced to cut the music after seeing attendees scuffling in the crowd at Breakaway NorCal.
Martin Garrix has no tolerance for bad vibes in his crowds.
Fights at large-scale music events are unfortunately no longer an uncommon experience, and they happen regularly all across the festival circuit. It’s one thing when a mosh pit gets a little too rowdy during a heavy set, but it’s difficult to imagine feeling the urge to fight someone to the euphoric melodies of Garrix, which is unfortunately what occurred at last weekend’s Breakaway NorCal festival.
In a video shared by an attendee on TikTok, Garrix cuts off his music before denouncing the unruly ravers. “Stop fighting, stop fighting,” he implored. “What the f*** are you guys doing?”
As the crowd begins to boo the troublemakers, Garrix is seen patiently waiting to continue his performance until the situation is resolved, at which point he resumes his headline performance effortlessly amid cheers. After diffusing the minor incident, Garrix’s set went off without a hitch and fans were able to watch the EDM superstar perform some of his greatest hits.
You can watch footage of the incident below. Breakaway NorCal took place October 11-12 at Sacramento’s Cal Expo Center and served as the final leg of the touring festival series.
