With the weather getting colder, it is a good idea to get all those fall festivities checked off your list. Because nobody wants to go to a pumpkin patch in 40 degree weather! If fall is your favorite season, but you’re unsure what to do…this is for you.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch or go Apple Picking

Grab your girls and go apple picking or visit a pumpkin patch! There are many farms close by that have pumpkin and apple picking, like Beardsley’s Cider Mill & Orchard in Shelton, CT. This is a beautiful farm you can explore with your besties, pick apples, take cute photos, drink some cider, and just have a fun fall day outside! Besides apple picking, my favorite thing to do after going to a pumpkin patch is carving pumpkins, of course! Put on your favorite fall or Halloween music and carve away! It is such a fun activity that allows you to be creative with your friends.

P.S. Make sure you throw away all the pulp from the pumpkin (I recommend doing this outside and not in your dorm!)

Have a Movie Night with Your Besties

Over the past few weeks, my friends and I watched all our favorite scary movies. If you don’t have a TV in your dorm, no problem! Try setting up a projector and watch it on your laptop, or even put it on in your hall’s common area! Personally, I am not a fan of scary movies, but I do like classic Halloween movies like Scream, Scary Movie 1 and Hocus Pocus. And if scary movies aren’t your thing either, put on a fall favorite like “Gilmore Girls.”

Go on a Hike or Walk around Campus

There is just something about the fall air and the leaves changing colors that makes me want to be outside. If I want to rewind, my go-to is going on a walk around campus, especially around the Chapel Quad. It is so beautiful to see the leaves start to fall as you walk around campus. Sometimes, I will sit on the bench by the Chapel and call a friend, or just take in the scenery (if you feel like you have too much screentime, this is definitely a way to take a break from your phone). And if you are feeling a little ambitious, go on a hike with your friends! There are plenty of trails around SHU, and it’s a good way to end a Sunday. After a hike I feel rejuvenated, and ready for the next week.

Walk around Downtown Fairfield

This doesn’t only apply to fall festivities, however, there’s something about Fairfield in the fall. Walking around the boutiques, and getting crepes and a sandwich from the Firehouse Deli just feels so much better in the fall. Right next to the Firehouse Deli, there is a little green area with tables and a gazebo where you can just chill out and eat. It reminds me of Gilmore Girls in a way, which is why I associate it with fall!

Create Fall Art

Whether you’re an artist or not, try to make fall crafts with your friends! It is so much fun, no matter the result. I am not an artist by any means, but my friend and I went to Jennings Beach and collected seaglass to glue onto a canvas board. We collected a lot of seaglass so we could make a shape of a ghost, a pumpkin, or to just write the word Fall. We took the shuttle to Michael’s and got everything we needed! I highly recommend doing this so you can have something cute to hang in your dorm!

Fall Shopping

One thing about me is that I will never say no to going to the mall. Lucky us, we can go on a 5 minute ride on the shuttle to the mall! Go get your cozy sweaters, fuzzy socks, or even a Halloween costume! I was very last minute this year, so I went to Windsor and just picked out a cute dress and cat ears (works everytime).
