If you’re like me, you know how fun it is to redecorate your dorm from time to time. And with the season getting colder, it’s time for some fall decorations!

  • Pillows

You can’t really go wrong with some decorative pillows! Even just one seasonal pillow can make your dorm feel cozier. Whether it be a fluffy throw pillow in the shape of a ghost (like I have), to a cutesy pillow with some leaves on it, pillows add a lot to a room especially during the fall season. It certainly keeps me warm during the weather change, too!

    • Seasonal Flowers

When I go into my local Trader Joe’s, I always stop by the flower section. It may seem like a strictly summer thing, but I love a cute fall themed bouquet. Combinations of yellows, oranges, reds and purples make the perfect mix! I tend to lean toward carnations–cheap for a college student budget, and they last a while. Putting them near a window can add that little bit of color you need into your space.

      • Decorative Lights

I don’t know about you, but in my room, the overhead light is a no-no. The harsh light gives me a headache, but the smaller lamps and string lights tend to do the job for me. Even if it is just some holiday lights strung up in orange or yellow, it adds the perfect cozy touch to my room. If you don’t like the idea of stringing up lights–as it can be a little bit of a hassle, colorful lamps are another alternative! I’m obsessed with my mushroom-shaped lamp, and they come in different colors, too.

      • Window Decorations

Walking around campus, especially as the holidays are coming up, I see lots of windows with stickers or window clings. Little pumpkins, “happy Halloween” signs, or even trinkets facing outside the window can add a cute touch!

      • Paintings/Wall Decorations

This is a bit of a 2-in-1; If you love a crafty moment, this one’s for you! I recently bought a bunch of paint, got together with some friends and made cute paintings for each other and our dorms. Not only is this a creative way to add some decor, but it is also such a fun bonding moment with your friends too!

For me, decorations are a vital part to making your dorm room your own. Especially being away from home, it adds a cozy-cute vibe to the space that is now yours!
