Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake is set to return for a second season on HBO Max this October.

The streaming service confirmed that the new season will premiere on October 23. Fans can expect ten episodes, with a new one released each week.

The season finale is scheduled for December 25, so viewers will need to tune in weekly to keep up with the story. Warner Bros. shared these details during New York Comic Con 2025, where the first full trailer for Season 2 was also released.

The show first premiered on August 31, 2023, and quickly became popular. Its success led to HBO Max greenlighting a second season. Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake is an adult animated series created by Adam Muto.

It is a spin-off of the original Adventure Time series and represents the third main installment in the franchise. Executive producers Fred Seibert and Sam Register work alongside Muto, who served as showrunner for the final six seasons of Adventure Time and also oversaw the Distant Lands specials.

The series focuses on Fionna the Human and Cake the Cat, gender-swapped versions of the original characters Finn and Jake. Simon Petrikov, known as the Ice King in Adventure Time, also appears.

Fionna lives in a world without magic and spends her days in dead-end jobs, while dreaming of a magical universe at night. Simon, in an alternate version of the Land of Ooo, faces similar struggles while working from home. Together, they travel across the multiverse, pursued by an antagonist who wants to erase them from existence.

Adam Muto described the show’s story during Comic Con, saying, “Fionna and Cake’s world is both familiar and strange. Fans will see new adventures but also feel the same heart and humor that made Adventure Time special.”

This new season gives fans a clear release schedule and the chance to follow the story week by week. HBO Max will stream all episodes exclusively.
