The popular animated franchise Miraculous, which turns 10 this year, is getting ready for a new theatrical film. The upcoming movie will continue the adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir and is being developed by Miraculous Corp, a joint venture between Mediawan and Zag, the company founded by Miraculous creator Jeremy Zag.

The creative team for the new film is strong. John Cohen, known for producing Despicable Me and The Angry Birds Movie, is on board as producer, according to Variety.

Matt Roller, who has written for Rick and Morty and Community, is handling the screenplay. Jeremy Zag, who directed the first Miraculous feature, will return as a producer. The announcement was made by Andy Yeatman, CEO of Miraculous Corp USA and global operations.

The first Miraculous movie, Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir, was released in 2023 and became a global success. It performed well on Netflix in regions including the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, but it was especially popular in Europe, where it earned over $40 million at the box office.

The film also featured eight original songs and was noted as the first female-led superhero musical set in Paris.

Miraculous has become a worldwide hit because it combines exciting superhero action with relatable characters and a strong message of girl power. Its setting in Paris adds charm and style, while its stories appeal to both children and families. This mix has helped it stand out among animated franchises over the past decade.

Cohen and Roller are expected to bring fresh ideas to the new film, working closely with Zag to create another thrilling adventure for fans. “We are excited to continue the Miraculous story on the big screen,” Yeatman said, emphasizing the franchise’s lasting popularity.
