The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has promised to change Nigeria for the better in four years if elected as the president of the country.
Obi gave the assurance on Wednesday in Abuja, during an interaction with newsmen.
The former Governor also assured his supporters that he would contest the 2027 presidential election in Nigeria and expressed his capacity and qualifications to lead the country.
“I am contesting, and I am sure I will be on the ballot. People will have to look at who is competing, who has the capacity, who has everything.
“I think I am qualified; I have the capacity to do the job. I will say it over and over again that, in four years, I can change the trajectory of Nigeria to a positive one,” Obi said.
Which Platform?
Obi, who contested the 2023 presidency on the platform of the Labour Party, however, did not confirm the platform he intends to use for the 2027 race.
He maintained that he remains a member of the Labour Party and confirmed working with the opposition coalition to save Nigeria from bad leadership.
Addressing speculations about a possible return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obi said the mission is to work with others to rescue the country, stressing that rescuing the people from bad leadership is more important than politics.
“All of us are going to come together as a people. That is my belief — that for us to do the right thing for the country, all well-meaning Nigerians must come together now to rescue the country,” he said.
