Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has vowed never to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that Fayose’s comment comes amid a wave of defections rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with several top members, including governors and lawmakers, recently joining the APC.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Fayose said he does not hide his support for President Bola Tinubu but will never join the APC.

He described Tinubu as a respected national leader, especially from the South-West, but maintained that his loyalty to PDP remains unchanged.

He said, “The PDP’s problem did not start today. I am not a member of the APC and I will never be. I didn’t hide my support for Asiwaju; I consider him a leader in Nigeria and particularly from our zone.”

Meanwhile, Fayose also hinted that the few remaining PDP governors are considering leaving the party.

He, however, did not drop specific names in his claim.

Fayose added that the PDP is a dead party and he wouldn’t be among those who will resurrect the main opposition party in Nigeria.

According to the former Governor, President Tinubu can not be blamed for the crisis rocking the PDP.
