Sia‘s estranged husband is demanding $250,000 (£187,000) per month in spousal support.

The pop star – real name Sia Furler – filed for divorce from her husband Daniel Bernard back in March, citing “irreconcilable differences”. They married in December 2022.

Now, according to US court documents, Bernard – a former radiation oncologist – is seeking the monthly allowance to maintain the “luxurious and upper-class lifestyle” he had during their marriage.

Per BBC News, he claims he was “financially dependent on Sia” after he quit his job to run a short-lived medical business with her.

In the court filings, Bernard said the couple had more than $400,000 (£299,517) in monthly expenses for private jets, holidays, high-end dining and several full-time staff members.

He said that the temporary support order he is seeking was “necessary” because Sia was “the breadwinner in our marriage”. In court documents, he wrote: “We never needed to monitor our living expenses.”

Bernard added that, to renew his certification and practise as a doctor again, he would need to complete several years of training and pass several rigorous exams.

He also requested additional payments to help cover legal costs and forensic accounting.

In March, it was revealed in court documents that the couple had welcomed a third child named Somersault last year.

In papers seen by the Daily Mail, the baby – full name Somersault Wonder Bernard – was born on March 27, 2024.

When Sia filed for divorce, she requested legal and physical custody of Somersault, although she has said that visitation rights would still be considered for Bernard.

AP report that the couple separated just a day before the divorce papers were filed, with “irreconcilable differences” cited in the application.

Sia previously adopted two boys who had been ageing out of the foster care system in 2019, and has described being a mother as “the best thing I’ve ever done” in an interview with Vogue in 2020.

In other news, earlier this year, Sia reunited with David Guetta for the new single ‘Beautiful People’. “I’m so happy to be back working with Sia again!” Guetta said about the track. “She’s one of the greatest voices and songwriters of our generation, and it feels like we’ve had this special connection ever since we wrote ‘Titanium’ back in 2011.”

Sia released her 10th and latest studio album, ‘Reasonable Woman’, last May – marking her first full-length effort in eight years. The record contained collaborations with Kylie MinogueChaka KhanParis Hilton and more.

She wrote the record alongside producers Jesse Shatkin (Kelly ClarksonMiley Cyrus) and Greg Kurstin (AdeleKendrick Lamar), and included the singles ‘Gimme Love’, ‘Dance Alone’ with Kylie and ‘Incredible’ with Labrinth.

Sia’s 2022 single ‘Unstoppable’, meanwhile, has been included in the 2025 edition of the game Just Dance, along with countless other contemporary pop classics.
