DreamWorks and Universal’s live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon is now available to stream on Peacock as of October 10th.
The film, a near shot-for-shot remake of the original animated movie, has been a huge box office hit, earning $635 million worldwide, including $263 million domestically. Fans have been waiting since its theatrical release in June, and now they can watch it from home alongside the original animated trilogy, all available on Peacock.
The live-action adaptation is directed and co-written by Dean DeBlois, who also led the animated films.
It stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gabriel Howell, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Frost, with Gerard Butler returning as Stoick the Vast. John Powell, who composed the scores for the animated trilogy, also returned to create the music for this new version.
Plans for the live-action remake were first announced in February 2023, with casting finalized by January 2024. Filming took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, beginning in January and wrapping in May.
How to Train Your Dragon premiered at CinemaCon in April and was released in theaters on June 13. The film has been praised by critics and audiences alike, becoming the highest-grossing entry in the franchise and one of the top live-action/animation hybrid films ever.
